At Paris Fashion Week in March this year, Zendaya had fashion editors and fine jewelry fanatics doing a double take at her perfectly manicured left hand. She swapped her five-carat Jessica McCormack diamond engagement ring (opens in a new window) for an eternity band, worn casually alongside her gold wedding ring. It’s a nod to the understated style Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy made famous three decades ago and a revival of the circular rings Ancient Egyptians once exchanged, believing a shape with no start and no end was about as close as jewelry got to a promise of eternity.

Once reserved for wedding days and anniversaries, the eternity ring has become 2026’s go-to for everyday luxury and is just as likely to be a stacking ring or a straightforward self-gift as it is a given one. Better still, it comes in a lot more shapes and styles than the single row of matching diamonds most of us grew up picturing.

These are the ones that make our wish list.

The Desert diamond eternity ring

The eternity ring is one of jewelry’s most familiar designs, sporting a single row of matching (usually) white diamonds that has barely changed in decades. As beautiful as the iconic style is, the rise of Desert diamonds has brought a unique new look to the classic band and we’re obsessed with the update. Warm browns in shades like champagne (opens in a new window), honey (opens in a new window) and whiskey (opens in a new window) offer an injection of personality and WWAKE’s pavé Desert diamond eternity ring (opens in a new window) does exactly that, with desert-toned diamonds moving from light to deep along a slim 14k gold band. It works as a wedding band or a standalone stacker.

Why it makes our wish list: it’s everything we love about eternity bands with an extra dose of individuality and self-expression.

The bezel eternity ring

A bezel wraps a thin rim of metal around each diamond. On an eternity ring, that means a continuous line of tiny metal-rimmed circles instead of a row of prongs and a band that feels smooth from every angle (say goodbye to any snagging on your favorite knit).

Vale’s Eternity Dew ring (opens in a new window) shows how modern the setting can look, with bezel-set round brilliant diamonds (opens in a new window) running the full circle of a slim gold band.

Why it makes our wish list: it’s an eternity band that works for everyday wear and stacks easily with other bands.

The vintage cut eternity ring

Vintage diamond cuts are back and an eternity band is one of the best places to see why. Old mine cuts (opens in a new window), the cushion-shaped diamonds hand-cut in the 18th and 19th centuries, have broader facets and softer outlines than a modern brilliant. The sparkle is gentler, with bigger flashes of light and a warmer glow. Korman’s old mine cut eternity band (opens in a new window) repeats that effect all the way around the finger, in chunky 18k yellow gold for a modern twist.

Why it makes our wish list: it’s the perfect mix of old and new. Modern chunky setting meets the soft glow of an antique.

The artsy eternity ring

Not every eternity ring needs to be a tidy row of round diamonds. Jewelers are getting more inventive with the shape of the diamonds, the direction they face and the way they’re held, and the results look more like artworks than traditional bands. Jade Trau’s Maverick band (opens in a new window) is exactly that. It sets 11 marquise diamonds (opens in a new window) east-west in the brand’s signature Alchemy prong setting. Every detail is unexpected, making it the perfect statement ring.

Why it makes our wish list: it makes an eternity band feel playful without losing any polish.

The channel-set eternity ring

The channel setting holds diamonds in a row between two parallel walls of metal, with no prongs in between. It flourished in the Georgian and Victorian eras and stayed in favor through Art Nouveau and Art Deco, when jewelers leaned into its symmetry and clean  lines. It still feels current because it’s so streamlined and the smooth surface has little to catch on. Single Stone’s Madison band (opens in a new window) adds a vintage touch with old European cut diamonds. For a 2026 update, ask a jeweler about setting Desert diamonds (opens in a new window) in the channel design, where their warm shades would look like a clean line of honey or ochre.

Why it makes our wish list: it’s a streamlined classic that’s easy to customize. Add Desert diamonds to make the style feel warmer and more personal.

The oval eternity ring

The oval is the it-girl shape right now, thanks in part to Hailey Bieber’s oval engagement ring (opens in a new window). Its elongated outline lengthens the finger and gives the diamond real presence on the hand. Set all the way around a band, the shape feels fresh and ultra-modern, a statement ring that works just as well on its own as it does next to an engagement ring. Razny’s platinum oval eternity band (opens in a new window), set with 13 oval diamonds (opens in a new window), is an instant favorite. It also happens to make a very good self-gift (opens in a new window).

Why it makes our wish list: it’s the shape everyone wants, in a ring you can happily buy for yourself.

The ultra bling eternity ring

Sometimes the point is simply sparkle. Pavé comes from the French for “paved,” and it describes tiny diamonds set so close together that the metal almost disappears. Stack five rows side by side and the band becomes a wide strip of light, with the full iced-out effect and no center diamond required. Reis-Nichols’ 5 row pavé eternity band (opens in a new window) packs 205 round diamonds into 14k white gold, for 2.26 total carats.

Why it makes our wish list: it does the work of a whole ring stack in a single band.

The classic half eternity ring

A half eternity band sets diamonds across the top of the ring and leaves the rest of the band in plain metal. That small difference is a big reason it’s so popular as a wedding band. It’s comfortable to wear day to day, it’s usually easier to resize than a full eternity band, and it sits neatly against an engagement ring. You still get the sparkle, just placed where it shows.

Why it makes our wish list: it keeps the sparkle of an eternity band and adds the comfort of a plain band.

The double eternity ring

A double band gives you sparkle and a second band in one ring. One row carries the diamonds and the second adds a different texture or color so a single ring looks like a stack. It’s a look that got attention this August, when Gigi Hadid wore a diamond and gold Boucheron band alongside Bradley Cooper in Paris and set off wedding rumors (though neither has confirmed anything). Shy Creation’s two-row ring (opens in a new window)takes a more playful route, pairing a row of round diamonds with a row of beaded 14k yellow gold.

Why it makes our wish list: it looks like a ready-made stack in a single ring.
